Michael's Favorite Shooting Locations

While Michael's private studio in Plantation offers the utmost in convenience and control over lighting and weather, sometimes we need the great outdoors as a background. Swimsuit photography, for instance, looks so much better on a real beach than on a set in the studio! Lauderdale and Miami offer so many beautiful places to shoot that Michael has listed a few of his favorites below.

Note: Most of Florida's beaches get busy from late morning through the afternoon. If you want a quiet beach with fewer distractions, go early in the morning - start shooting at 8am.

  Haulover Beach

At the southern tip of Miami's Haulover Beach Park, you'll find a small cove with smooth white sand and some rocks. This is area is not nude! The cove can fill with seaweed if the wind is blowing from the east, so check the weather before visiting.

Secret Woods Park

Secret Woods Park is a beautiful and calm nature trail park located on Marina Mile (SR 84) in Dania Beach. Perfect for candid shots with a woodsy background. Usually very quiet, you may well be the only people there!

  Crandon Park

Crandon Park on Miami's Key Biscayne offers a beach with many coconut palms. Palm trees and ocean in the same shot!

Deerfield Beach

A mile south of the Deerfield Beach fishing pier is a beautiful beach with white sand and some rocks.

  Miami Skyline at Night

Watson Island, next to the Miami Children's Museum, is a great location for shots with the Miami cityscape in the background.

Haulover Beach

At the north end of Miami's Haulover Beech Park, is the only legal nude beach in Florida.

  Anne Kolb Nature Center

The Anne Kolb Nature Center is another calm and secluded park with several nature trails. Located in Hollywood on Sheridan Street, about a mile west of A1A.

Lauderdale by the Sea

The only place I know of in South Florida where you can get your subject, a vehicle, palm trees and the ocean in the same shot. Located about 1/2 mile north of the fishing pier in Lauderdale by the Sea.
